It was founded in 2008 by Peter Diamandis and Ray Kurzweil, and currently offerers online and in-person educational programs for individuals, incubator programs for startups, and leadership and innovation trainings for organizations. SU also focuses on media - they put out content through SingularityHub, and just recently announced their acquisition of Futurism, a digital media company that with capabilities in both distribution and production.
