Thanksgiving is the season of abundance and gratitude. Today on BOLD, LeGrande Green interviews Alana Lea who has been called “a voice for the rainforest.” Alana's inspirational journey serves as a template for anyone with a dream.
“When everything was gone (in my life), I had to start over completely from scratch,” she says. “I decided it was time to examine my roots and let those seeds bloom.”
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Alana has cultivated a passion for the plant kingdom as a horticulturalist for more than thirty years, while later telling its stories as a botanical artist. “Trees are our most perfect model of giving and receiving.”
In addition to the creation of Tropiflora, a tropical nursery business, Alana's botanical watercolors and digital collages have been displayed at the Bruce Museum of Arts and Sciences, the Smithsonian Institution and Museum of Natural History.
