Thanks to Romy Gingras, of Gingras Global for permission to use excerpts of her interview with the co-founder of Rebel Nell, Amy Peterson.
Rebel Nell is the name of a social enterprise company, a Triple L C---low profit, limited liability company, that makes high end jewlery. It employs women who have had problems with their domestic lives, finances, and suffered abuse from their intimate partners, and who now live in a shelter in the city of Detroit. The women do more than make jewels out of "urban art," aka, graffiti. They learn how to take care of themselves financially, emotionally, and some have even moved out of the shelter. Their stories are part of a series of stories that the producers of Patriot-Made Audiocasts are planning on Brand Value Detroit.
