On this episode, Scott and Brogan talk to Katie and Doug from The Warehouse Tacoma. The Warehouse is a production company in Tacoma that has been producing shows since 2009. Their mission is to bring high quality artists to Tacoma and strive to produce the best shows possible while pushing “the limits of what a quintessential concert should be.”
The show kicks off with Katie and Doug talking about how they got started. The business idea started when they were throwing concerts in the warehouse Doug was living in. It started little with just friends then grew to working with local businesses to curate concerts in Tacoma. Since then they have grown tremendously, this year they’re the directors of First Night, the New Year’s Eve Party in Tacoma. They also discuss offering artists a great experience while visiting Tacoma, from offering them a home cooked meal to helping them find locations to stay, they strive to make the artists experience a memorable one.
Talk then turns to The Warehouse working with local non-profits in the community. Places like Feed 253, who they recently threw a fundraiser Thanksgiving dinner for. In addition to working with nonprofits, part of the money they raise at each Warehouse event is donated to nonprofits. They also discuss Real Art Tacoma, a nonprofit business that is an all age’s venue that hosts concerts locally.
The show winds down talking about media pushes and marketing the bands that they work with. They do have an expectation of bands promoting themselves and offer bonuses to the ones that do self-promotion. They also discuss social media and finding ways to monetize their business and the importance of using a grassroots marketing to get people involved.
The show ends talking about how people can find them online and also First Night. This year tickets for First Night is $10. It’s an all-ages show that will have 10 bands performing. You can find them on Facebook and their website is: http://www.thewarehousetacoma.com/. They also talk about memorable events since they’ve been in business and the great support they have received from people in the community. Thanks Katie and Doug for joining Scott and Brogan on this episode!
