Philippians 2:19-30. Here we see the humility and selflessness of Christ at work in Paul, Timothy and Epaphroditus. The entire focus of this passage is to comfort and serve others during difficult (even life threatening times). The Text is all about sending Timothy and Epaphroditus back to the church at Philippi for the sake of comforting the Phillipians. As if that wasn't enough, part of Paul's motive to get Epaphroditus back is to show his friends and family that he's fine. Paul wanted the Philippians to be able to sigh a sigh of relief at seeing that he was okay. If we're honest, we're all too busy wanting others to know how sick we are so others can pray for us. Here it's the exact opposite. In short, we are given a snapshot of three men who have been so radically transformed by Jesus Christ that they are selfless to their own hurt at the expense of serving God and others. May God be pleased to make us all more like this.
