Philippians 3:12-16. This segment shows Paul continuing to refute the Judiazers while being vulnerable about the condition of his own heart and soul. Verse 14 is the key verse... "I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." True faith in Jesus is eternal and persistent faith. In a healthy marriage, both spouses continue to pursue each other in deeper friendship, in loving acts and in general as two people that are connected as one. In much the same way, though Jesus has us and we have Him, we prove that inner truth by inwardly and outwardly persisting to pursue Jesus. Our only goal to know Him and behold Him more deeply. This idea could be summed up as, "There's your prize, go get it!" The ultimate prize of fully attaining Christ, as well as Christ-likeness, is ours through faith in Jesus. No one who truly knows Jesus says, "I'm just gonna' sit here and watch T.V. and pursue meaningless endeavors because I already know Jesus." On the contrary, that attitude gives evidence that the person has never known Christ at all. Christ is ours, let us pursue him more and more until the day we die.
