In this episode, James and Phoebe share the importance of defining your own meaning of the word “success”, along with providing simple steps that you can use to achieve this.
Success can mean different things to different people. James says that the true secret is that we have to start by creating our own definition.
Abraham-Hicks states that success isn’t about material objects, but the amount of joy that you feel and that the achievement of anything that you desire must be considered success.
Phoebe notes that when online entrepreneurs introduce themselves, often it’s with the launch or sales numbers that they have achieved. Through journaling her own thoughts, she discovered that she was conditioned from an early age to believe that money equals power. She’s been working hard on reframing this to look at success by the amount of freedom one has.
James shares that money isn’t the root of all evil, but it’s the obsession or greed of money that is.
“Abundance in your business is a good sign of the energy you have flowing through you”
Also, comparing yourself to others is dangerous, as we don’t know that person’s full story behind where he or she is today.
“Look for the things that you can intentionally put into your life now and you will feel success immediately”
Phoebe always wanted to be a millionaire by the age of 30, and when this didn’t happen, a friend asked her how much her life really would change if it had actually happened.
“I realized in that moment that it wouldn’t change. I’m happy with my life, I love what I do (and) I have the freedom.”
She also now knows that being generous and impacting others is something that she can do right now.
James believes that we’re looking for an experience to have financial control where we can create money on demand.
Simple process for how to be successful:
1) Identify and question every one of society’s definitions of success
Think about how your family, friends, colleagues and other people in your industry define success.
2) Create your own definition based on what is important to you
What do you want and how to you want to feel? Set metrics, or rules for your own success and consider what you want to achieve (and what you are willing to give up to do it).
3) Enjoy every single second of the process
In this very moment, you have the opportunity to be the very embodiment of your definition of success!
