Grammy Award-winning record producer Ken Nelson keeps it simple — find the emotion, make it soulful, and let the band make their record. Over his career, he has found incredible success putting those three principles into action. Ken produced and engineered the debut albums of Gomez and Badly Drawn Boy, both of whom won the U.K.’s coveted Mercury Prize. His collaborations with Coldplay on Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head brought that band multi-platinum sales and worldwide acclaim.
In the interview, Nelson details how he got started in the music industry, what he does in the studio, and how he brings out the best in a band. He also takes us back in time to the 2004 Grammy stage and describes what it was like winning ‘Record of the Year’ for Coldplay’s Clocks — a night he says he will never forget.
