This week we are taking on a topic near and dear to my heart. Do you love yourself? In my work and ministry, I am all about teaching women to know their worth so they can find their joy, but how exactly do we do that?
Our secular culture tells us to find our worth in our physical selves, in our beauty, our accomplishments, and our possessions. But all of these things leave us empty and disillusioned. we are built for a relationship with God, and only in the context of that relationship will be find peace and lasting joy.
We also talk about what true humility is and how what kinds of things can become distractions from the kind of "holiness" and "personal achievement" God calls us to.
Finally, I take a reader question about "cry room wars" at Mass and discuss ways in which I find Colleen Duggan's recent post helpful. Also helpful was a reminder I heard from a Benedictine monk in a recent homily about Chapter 72 of the Rule of St. Benedict. How much happier and holier would we all be of we approached others in love and with mercy! Let me know your thoughts on these topics. I love hearing from you!
