Week after week, the US military stages air attacks on the Somali Islamist terrorist group Al-Shabaab. Always the official reports say, a number -- often one, two or 3 dozen – terrorists are killed and there are no civilian casualties. American journalist Amanda Sperber is one of the few who visit Somalia and she says the first number is uncertain, but the second – no civilian casualties – is almost certainly untrue. So, what’s being accomplished? The head of America’s Africa Command says progress depends on the Somali Government Army, which gets little help from the US.
