That’s right folks you have joined us on this episode #52 which does in fact mark a year of awesomeness with The Launchpad Media http://bit.ly/2K1E0UO! We cannot express thanks enough to Mr.Johnny Rocket, all of our guests and, to all of you for the past year. It has been one fabulous journey and it continues right now.
So let’s get on with it. As usual we have some lyrical analysis today we have one heck of a throwback all the way back to 1949 with the M.T.A. It’s a weird little ditty with an interesting story attached (http://bit.ly/2XAnn61) and even inspired the punk-rock anthem Skinhead On The M.B.T.A., but where does it land on our scale? http://bit.ly/2MCVAki http://bit.ly/2XD4saH
Music discovery is the order here and we have a nice mix for you today. I’ve found DiTrani Brothers self titled debut. Like folk? Gypsy guitar? Ragtime? This album has elements of all the above. It also has the sound of all those down home instruments you don't hear much in popular music like washtub bass, accordian and banjo. I really like the way the escort us into the album with this rain and thunder kind of musical feel. It's like the opening to a great story. The lyrics are modern in style for the most part but most of the subjects are timeless. I found it to be a really engaging journey. https://ditranibrothers.bandcamp.com/album/ditrani-brothers
Nicky’s pick How Am I Not Myself? By California band French Vanilla is so hot right now. Because it sounds like summer and the 1980’s. Here are his comments: “First thing, I’m a sucker for saxophone, any sax, good, bad, ugly. This album features saxophone so I’m sucked in already. Now, I’ll be the first to say the lyrics probably not my favorite but they’re not really that important to the quality. If you’re making an 80s-pastiche John Hughes-esque film, this is your soundtrack.” http://frenchvanilla.bandcamp.com/album/how-am-i-not-myself
