2010: Can it be only six months ago that Richard Doetsch was a guest on Mr. Media? I remember it well because I was so breathless in my praise and admiration for his then-new novel, The 13th Hour. That story completely blew my mind. I still don’t know how Hollywood is going to squeeze so much storytelling goodness into less than three hours, but I can’t wait to see them try.
RICHARD DOETSCH podcast excerpt: "Everyone wants to write a novel. I hate people who talk about they want to do. I thought, 'There are so many stories I want to read that I never saw.' So I started writing on the train every day."Now Doetsch is back with another new book, Thieves of Darkness, which is the third installment in the adventures of world-class thief and all-around gentleman, Michael St. Pierre. And I’m as ga-ga over this one as I was his last. I literally finished reading it just this afternoon and my excitement is truly palpable. A lot of people write books, but not a lot of them write in such a way that when you get to the end, you don’t want the rollercoaster ride to end. Michael Chabon’s best stories are like that; so are Richard Doetsch’s.
