Dr. Krystal Sodaitis was an academic pediatrician at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She became interested in insurance medicine, and decided to pursue a career working for an insurance company in utilization review. It took a some time, but she was able to secure a position in a large insurance company in Chicago, Illinois, thereby avoiding the need to move to a new home.
Since beginning her new career, she has truly enjoyed the work she is doing. She has moved into a different role at the same company, and is seeking more leadership opportunities.
In preparation for that, she sought training as a coach. She wanted to incorporate coaching into her leadership style. She then found that she could use coaching to address a clinical issue that intrigued her: the uniques issues faced by gifted adolescent students.
So, she started a part-time coaching business that supplements her work as an insurance company medical director. And she is very fulfilled balancing work in both fields.
In our conversation, she decribes how she gained the necessary experience that enabled her to get her first UM position, and begin her coaching activities.
