Dr. Haneen Abu-Remaileh is a Family Physician with an interest in maternity care. With 2 children under the age of 4, she works clinically as a Locum Tenens physician.
She received her medical degree from the University of British Columbia, and completed a Family Medicine Residency at the University of Calgary.
Haneen is also a physician entrepreneur. She realized that there’s a fundamental problem with physician distribution and recruitment in North America that is exacerbating the looming physician shortage. She decided create a startup business called Locumunity (www.locumunity.com) that creates a centralized online marketplace where job-seeking physicians and medical facilities connect directly through a data and community driven platform.
I was introduced to Haneen by Andrew Wilner from Podcast Episodes 75 and 76. As a locum tenens physician, he has a strong interest in finding and supporting businesses that make it easier to connect physicians with locums positions, which is exactly what Haneen in doing.
During our conversation, you will learn about Haneen's start-up journey. She describes what inspired her, how she pursued her dream, how she integrates clinical medicine with running a start-up, and how an accelerator helped her find coaches and investors.
