Welcome back to Ghost Light for the second half of Edmonton's 2019-2020 theatre season! A brand new Shakespearean theatre festival - the Midwinter Shakespeare Festival - launched at the beginning of January. Artistic director Benjamin Blyth tells us about the two plays being staged in the festival, Julius Caesar and A Midsummer Night's Dream. He talks about the relevance of these plays to our modern political climate, populist leaders, societies recovering from war, and more.
Mel also talks about the staged readings of two Elizabethan plays that are running in the festival, The Merry Devil of Edmonton and The Witch of Edmonton, Walterdale Theatre's announcement of a new artistic director, and getting theatre history textbooks for Christmas.
