My father came home one day and announced that our family was moving from our small town in Virginia to Charlotte, N.C. And almost immediately, the thought came to me, I heard my voice whisper internally, "I am going home."From the moment I drove across the city line, driving my mother and young brother into our new city, our new home, I could feel my heart beat faster. It was as you might have already suspected, love at first sight. And over the now sixty years I feel as though I am one with the city and because of 30 years alone in real estate and 30 years prior in high school and a variety of colleges and classes as I embraced self-education and well over a decade and a halfin the media,I see my self at all ages growing intoand with the city, being a hint, a shadow, an echo in the alleys uptown and the dusty roads now highways around the city and the countryside where I live. One.
