What you habitually say to yourself is a clue to what you habitually think.
So, for example, if you notice yourself saying “that was dumb!” about yourself or if you confess “I’m bad with names” when you forget someone’s name, maybe you’re subconsciously re-affirming to yourself that you think you are dumb or forgetful.
