BIO of Dr Jaime Hope:
I am an Attending Physician specializing in Emergency Medicine at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. It is a Level 1 Trauma Tertiary Care center and is ranked as one of the top 12 busiest emergency departments in the country! Since becoming a physician in 2005, I have had the opportunity to see and treat patients from all walks of life and in all circumstances. It is truly a privilege to serve!
In the Emergency Department, I often see patients on the worst day of their lives. I have always been interested in preventative medicine and wondered what people might do to improve their habits and avoid needing to come to the emergency department at all! That curiosity and my passion for health promotion inspired me to learn above and beyond my primary specialty. I have taken courses in nutrition, sports medicine, sleep medicine, meditation, stress relief, endocrine (hormone) health, and more! As an avid reader and podcast listener, I absolutely love to learn new things. I read about 50 books per year on topics such as personal development, stress relief, parenting, relationships, business success, healthy habits and a variety of other interesting topics…in addition to staying up to date on the latest medical literature.
I have found that teaching is one of my great joys and I have been very fortunate to get to teach in topics I am most passionate about. I am an Assistant Professor at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and teach the Behavior Change and Motivational Interviewing Courses to future physicians. I am the co-faculty advisor for the Lifestyle Medicine Interest Group as well as the OU Bike and Run Collective. I have part of several campus initiatives toward healthy lifestyle promotion.
I am a former ‘junk food junkie’ turned healthy balanced person (not overzealous health nut!). Coming from a place of gratitude, passion, and enthusiasm, I appreciate the opportunities to help inspire others on their own health journeys. Having the opportunities to speak to audiences from all walks of life and all over the country is amazing! I speak on a broad variety of medical and health-related topics, the most popular of which have been Healthy Habits, Confidence and Overcoming Imposter Syndrome, and Resilience.
If I can serve you or your audience, please reach out to me!
