In this episode Dr Margreet Wibbelink interviews Independent Midwife Glynnis Garrod - activist and founder of the Right to Birth Movement.

For the first 10 years of her career Glynnis worked at the Groote Schuur Hospital, then joined Kate Christie and co-founded the Independent Midwife Practice: ‘Birth Options’. This independent midwife practice has gone from strength to strength since its inception and is currently 20 years old. However, the worst scenario possible has happened, they have to close their practice due to a lack of Obstetric support! Instead of taking a much-needed sabbatical, Glynnis was compelled to become an activist and started the Right To Birth movement, which is driven by herself and a team of amazing individuals, the consumers of midwifery care. At the end of the day, it is all about our women and their partners.
