Born in Houston, TX and later living in Austin, Sunny Sweeny spent her formative college years at Southwest Texas State. While in college Sunny soon felt her free-spirit calling. So, she made the move to New York City to take a break from school. After the New York City experience had ran its course, she moved back to Texas, finished school, and started a band.
She put out her first album in 2006 and for the last 14 years she’s became a female juggernaut in the world of Country Music. She’s toured all over the world including successful tours in Europe and by the middle of 2017 she’d already made her 50th appearance on the Grand Ole Opry.
Sunny’s highly anticipated new album, Trophy is full of songs that are simply gems. My personal favorite Sunny Sweeny song is called “Poet’s Prayer”. It will resonate deeply with anyone who’s ever done time in the music business as well as fans of traveling troubadours. Here’s the link to the YouTube video of Poet’s Prayer.
She has a bright past and what appears to be only a brighter future in Country Music with the release of Trophy.
So here we go with episode #78 of The Troubadour featuring our conversation with Sunny Sweeney.
