Phil Green - Updating Us on His Bout with the ALS/MND - Phil Green is a close friend of the show. He's co-hosted, been a guest, and is a vital part of our Album Fight episodes. In 2018 he was given a terminal diagnosis, ALS, also known as MND (Motor Neuron Disease) or Lou Gherig's disease. Someone is diagnosed with ALS, on average, every 90 minutes...but ALS also kills at the same rate. The conveyor belt nature of the diseases makes it extraordinarily hard to treat...and most patients, 85% don't qualify for clinical trials.
Phil first delivered this news on the Break It Down Show (https://youtu.be/mHy94_w7qPQ). Rather than wallow in the diagnosis, Phil has been an agent for change. He's worked with Google, University of Washington, UCI Medical, Congress--dude gets around. He's also on the board of several ALS organizations in including I am ALS.
