Interview with Steve Ryan
In this special episode, I interview one of my Power of Process students, Steve Ryan of Steve Ryan Designs. (YAY!)
Steve Ryan is an award-winning, Toronto-based Designer, Home Stager, and Stylist. In addition to his own firm, he collaborates on major staging projects with Details Staging and Design. A graduate of the Interior Decorating program at George Brown College in 2016, he is an accredited member of the Toronto Chapter of the Decorators and Designers Association of Canada. He is also the content creator for DDA Toronto’s Instagram page and coaches small businesses on improving their Instagram feed and brands. He also writes popular blog posts giving design advice on his website.
Through our conversation, we chatted about his experience through the Power of Process course and how it helped him assess his business and pivot his focus. It was an incredibly humbling conversation to have as his coach. Our conversation then drifted to social media, more specifically Instagram.
Steve is not only a designer but quite crafty and a wiz on Instagram. He shared his tips and takeaways about how to build a following and improve user interaction. It definitely got me thinking about the quality of my posts and if I am an over-poster. (eek, I hope not!)
Lastly, Steve shared the best advice someone ever gave him - to learn from those who have come before him; those who have a similar trajectory but are a bit further than you. Learn by example, it'll help you avoid mistakes, and keep growing as an individual and a business.
