Today we are excited to have Pauline on the Incite Change Podcast.
She experienced a paradigm shift in her beliefs about fitness late in 2019 and has totally transformed.
She led an active life growing up playing many sports including volleyball and swimming until the pressures of life changed that. Through navigating college, work, and starting a family, it was difficult finding the right approach.
For someone with 3 kids, she was settling with the idea that she could not look better. It was not until the spark that was ignited going into the 2019 holidays, that she believed her goals were within reach. Pauline recalls the real change occurred during the Spring challenge in 2020 where she solidified the” game-changing” habit of nutrition awareness. Just by being more conscious of what she was eating, she was able to get her body fat to a level she had never before. At that point, a ‘light bulb’ went off in her head, where she realized just what was possible; if she stuck through to the whole challenge.
Even with Covid in the mix, she kept to her new eating habits and maintained an 80-20 balance to her lifestyle. She (and those around her) were surprised what she was able to eat while ‘on plan’. Pauline advises beginners to just accept in the beginning they will have to adjust mentally to the approach with time, it becomes ‘muscle memory’ if you stick with it. You just have to find what you like, what works for your specific situation, and stick to it.
Pauline reinforces Incite Coaching’s approach “to be objective about your measurements, and not subjective”. She recalls not to focus on a single data point, but focus on what makes more sense to your specific situation. After some time, she reflected that it would have been worthwhile to begin measuring earlier. It is worthwhile to take your before and after photos, circumference measurements, and to get yourself motivated with this feedback loop.
At the end of the day, you want something sustainable with little changes. Learning to eat the same food in different combinations at different times.
“If I can do it, you can do it too!”

"Sometimes action perceives motivation because some days you have to just start doing it before you don't get enough motivation and you don't see something that actually continues to motivate you forward."
