What we’re talking about:
Today I’m chatting to Tigah, who left school at the end of Year 10 to pursue further education at TAFE. She completed a Certificate III in Design Fundamentals last year, is currently studying a Diploma of Visual Arts, and is thinking about continuing her study with a Bachelor of Fine Arts next year. As well as talking about these courses, Tigah shares how she and her mum did lots of research to plan exactly what she was going to do after leaving high school, and we discuss the broad range of careers she’s able to pursue following her studies in Visual Arts.
Leaving school at the end of Year 10Tigah explains that she didn’t really enjoy school and always knew that she wanted to pursue Art. With the support of her mum, she did a lot of research and came up with a solid plan to continue her education at TAFE. Tigah explains the process of applying for TAFE and has some tips for others who are considering leaving school.
Design Fundamentals, Visual Arts and Fine ArtsTigah explains the difference between these 3 courses and what she’s been studying so far, as well as the experiences, equipment and facilities.
Careers in Visual ArtsTigah had been considering a career as a tattoo artist, but she’s enjoying the study she’s doing and is considering the bachelor degree while she explores other career options. She’s already had some commission work and logo design, and plans to one day have her own studio.
