Valeria Teles interviews Lana Reed — the author of “The Yoga Way to Radiance: How to Follow Your Inner Guidance and Nurture Children to Do the Same.”
Lana Reed is a leading expert on children and yoga, having worked with both since the mid-1970s. She is a parent, Montessori educator, and a yoga professional recognized by Yoga Journal magazine as one of the top five Kundalini Yoga teachers in the world. She has taught specialty yoga trainings especially for women and senior citizens, and is a recognized leader in the international yoga community.
Lana has authored several books: Fly Like a Butterfly: Yoga for Children, The Five Fingered Family, Kundalini Yoga, Keep It Simple Series (KISS) Guide to Yoga and Yoga for Women, and her latest book, The Yoga Way to Radiance: How to Follow your Inner Guidance and Nurture Children to do the Same.
In 1997, she founded Radiant Child® Yoga, one of the first programs that trains adults how to teach children yoga and work with/raising children consciously. Through Radiant Child Yoga, Lana has trained over 15,000 teachers, parents, therapists, medical professionals, and childcare givers in the art of yoga for children, and has trainers for her program all over the world. She is considered the “godmother” of the children’s yoga movement.
She has produced several musical albums and videos as companions to her books. Her DVD, Yoga in Motion, was awarded Mom’s Choice award for 2008, as was her website, www.childrensyoga.com. She has also created Yoga Warrior Cards, which bring action figures into the world of yoga.
Lana lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and several animal companions, and loves to visit her son and his partner in Boulder Colorado.
