Today’s show is another in a series of bonus episodes each featuring one of the incredible talks given by my participants in The Big Talk Academy as a part of our Virtual Showcase. This showcase is the culmination of their hard work as they cross the finish line to becoming certified speakers.
These episodes give you a peek behind the curtain to witness the amazing Big Talks presented, and also give you exclusive access to my live feedback and direction I give to each speaker immediately following their performances.
This week’s episode features Shelley Brown and her talk, Filling the Void With Our Voice.
As an author and international mindfulness educator, Shelley is best known as the creator of Weird Girl Adventures. She invites audiences into her world where Judy Blume meets Sex in the City to encourage a lens of acceptance and belonging instead of perfection.
In her illuminating and inspiring Big Talk, Shelley shares her difficult story of having a doctor-recommended hysterectomy that was ultimately medically unnecessary. She champions others to remove the shame, stigma, and taboos of talking about our sexual health and to use our voices to question and debunk myths. Most importantly, she challenges us to use our voice to connect with compassion and empathy, to inspire hope and courage, and to ignite change.
Our voice can fill the void.
