Mama D is an independent researcher and learning facilitator in decolonising food and nourishment. Here we journey through the sensory character of vision, movement, and the economic and socio-political role that food and consumption plays in our lives. We explore ways in which we can learn to live in symbiosis and co-create with nature, in order to nourish our collective future. We are in Epping Forest, which is primarily made up of oak, hornbeam and beech trees with some silver birch and holly. We begin our journey with a recording of an ancient beech tree. We end with an invitation to dance with Mama D.
You can get to know more of Mama D’s work through her support of a network of community organisations: Just Space. And within the collective of Community Centred Knowledge which she founded and continues to curate the multi-sensory Food Journey© and other interactive and immersive workshops to contribute to our shared healing. She has also written an article on the Sensory Character of Vision for our Earth Edition of Wild Alchemy Journal.
