Catherine Rinehart Mello has work in the brain injury field for the past 15 years. She completed a graduate certificate in Special Education and Brain Injury and is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist. She is worked in at a behavioral non-profit and as a contractor for the Behavioral Health Administration supporting the brain injury programs and specialized individual specific contracts prior to BIAMD. Catherine’s position at BIAMD is Senior Support Service Case Manager and Public Policy. She provides administrative case management for BI Waiver participants which involves at least quarterly visits with participants to ensure health and safety needs are met, developing service plan based on participants goals and needs in collaboration with individual, family and provider and assist with problem solving and resource access as needed. In her policy role, Catherine participates in stakeholder groups on both state and national level, tracks legislation, collaborates on bill testimony, provides feedback on proposed regulation changes and policy priorities. In support of BIAMD’s information and assistance role, Catherine is one of several staff who answer phone calls and emails from individuals, caregivers and professionals and connects them with brain injury resources and services to address their individual needs. She also provides support for BIAMD’s events.
