Wes Harper in his words:
I grew up in rural Northern Virginia (when that was a thing) and my parents had me camping before I was out of diapers. Trips to the Shenandoah mountains were frequent, as were fishing trips with my dad as soon as I could hold a cane pole. My brother (2 years younger) and I grew a strong love for the outdoors as a result. My parents created a strong family bond, complete with set dinner times and a dutiful sense of right and wrong. My dad worked at the Pentagon and preached to me and my brother, "don't ever do what I am doing." His desire was for us to be strong, independent men who wouldn't be trapped in an 8 to 5. Mom taught me how to cook, and Dad taught me how to be stubborn. I owe them both a debt of gratitude.
