The Advent season is a season of seeking and surrendering to the true King of the world. In the stories of both the shepherds in the gospel of Luke and the Magi in the gospel of Matthew, we see this seeking and surrendering take place. These different groups of people serve as an example for us as we consider this Christmas what it means to seek Jesus and surrender our lives to him. In other words, these gospel stories point us to what if means to find and follow Jesus.
