Meat producers are facing some of the toughest challenges currently with inflated production cost and prices. However, Dr Carmelo Ferlito of the economic think-tank Center for Market Education told Asian Agribiz that the problem started in 2020, when governments in the region implemented pandemic lockdowns.
His solutions included increasing productivity and producing efficiently, using austere measures and technology to safeguard consumer interests, to ensure purchasing ability is maintained.
Dr Carmelo Ferlito is an economist and a manager working and living in Malaysia since 2011. He is currently the CEO of the Center for Market Education and a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is also a Research Advisor for Provalindo Nusa in Jakarta, Indonesia, and a Senior Fellow at the Property Rights Alliance in Washington, DC.
