— Most individuals who have been victimized by their families do not become aware of their abuse until they have reached adulthood. We experience very distinct and expected dynamics when we grow up in a home that is characterized by violence, addiction, and abuse. Denial is the most basic of these. Fear is another key dynamic. Trying to unravel a lifetime of emotional pain, fear and dysfunction is a distressing slow task. Healing requires examining what has happened, and is happening right now at all levels —mentally, emotionally, and physically. This episode is about two sisters and survivors who found a way to come to light from a tragic cycle of inter-generational trauma and abuse.
