GOVERNOR SCOTT WALKER ON PRESIDENT OBAMA'S IRAN PLAN
TRANSCRIPT English (Automatic Captions) 0:00 the US inching closer to a nuclear deal with iran despite 0:03 profound concerns from congress and Israel and others 0:06 the president Obama is giving up too much for too little 0:09 have not yet made 0:13 a yo the the kind of concessions that are ever gonna be meted 0:19 for a final bill to get done but may have moved 0:22 and and so there's %uh the bus building question is Is 0:27 any deal a huge mistake joining us now is the governor of wisconsin-stout water 0:31 covered the morning good morning great to be with you 0:34 you'd expect the express deep skepticism about this deal and you said that any 0:39 president coming after Obama would not have to 0:41 necessarily abide by the deal how does the united states. in your view prevent 0:47 Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons in is military action against Iran 0:51 on the table why don't we need to be aggressive Iran and others in the middle 0:56 ace into this thing about this from and I i'm in florida today I was just in 0:59 South Carolina few days ago scott knows I was just New Hampshire last weekend we 1:03 can before nylon I gotta tell you 1:05 people all across this country are worried their word because we've got a 1:08 president who draw a line in the sand 1:10 a lot of people across it we've got a president cause I sis the JV squad 1:14 Yemen a success story and now I ran a place we can do business with 1:18 this is a place where the supreme leader just did about a day ago 1:22 said that when people are yelling death to America yes 1:25 and and yet we're trying to negotiate 1:28 with this very same country real serious concerns about 1:32 letting them have a capacity get nuclear weapons which would not only be a 1:35 problem for israel 1:36 it would be a problem for the entire world that we need to be aggressive in 1:39 pushing back either 1:40 well governor thanks for joining us it seems like our foreign policies actually 1:43 upside down what would you do differently 1:46 that the president and this administration is not doing it seems 1:50 like the sequel to the movie back in the eighties trading places where 1:53 israel's our ally Iran is not in yet this administration he seems to be doing 1:57 the opposite direction I think me to be aggressive we need to pull back work 2:01 we're certainly 2:01 as many have said giving up too much getting too little 2:04 opening the door towards a nuclear a weapon in 2:08 and in Iran the use the nuclear weapon there again that's only problem for 2:11 israel that will open the door for the saudis producing their own 2:14 I think it opens up a global problem we need to push back 2:18 we need to make sure they do not get that and and I think ultimately United 2:21 States needs to seriously look at reestablishing 2:24 sanctions and working with our allies particular in Europe to do the same 2:28 to support congress' involvement in this process has the president is basically 2:33 said 2:33 listen to let you know what the deal is and then ultimately I have the ability 2:37 through my executive authority to do whatever I want in congress on the other 2:40 hand is a mojo at mister president vise again Senate's our role to endorse 2:45 or not a lot of these issues what are your thoughts on that if this is a good 2:49 deal 2:49 and if it's going to ultimately be something it's legally binding 2:52 in the congress does have a role that's par the the way the constitution sets up 2:56 the checks and balances out there we had a president who understands and respects 2:59 that we've had mixed messages from about the Secretary of State 3:03 secretary carry on one hand says it's a good deal on the other hand 3:07 seems to backtrack on whether or not it's legally binding if it is legally 3:10 binding and it is a good deal for the american people for the people. this 3:13 world then it's something that should be put before the congress and we need a 3:16 president understands 3:17 that relationship between the two branches so apparently the Obama 3:20 administration has done a lot behind the scenes to prevent 3:24 Israel from taking military action against Iran you think it's been wise 3:28 for us to prevent Israel from doing that 3:30 or again it's just remarkable all throughout the Middle East not only in 3:34 this situation but we 3:35 we have a president istration appear to have pulled out early Iraq for largely 3:39 political reasons 3:40 and now we've got even bigger problems there but we have some the same group 3:43 that were once aligned with us 3:44 at now almost mortal enemies because a believing and high and dry 3:49 in their case are getting assistance from Iran back troops militias out there 3:53 we have problems obviously in Syria and Libya because %uh vices 3:56 we've got problems because this administration has left us 3:59 in a boy/girl people are looking for America to stand up and take leadership 4:03 to play a commanding role to not do allow we need to act 00 we need to act 4:07 with our other allies around the world we need to work with a rare partners 4:10 like Egypt and Syria to show that we can put together global coal 4:14 coalition that will push back in Iran and will fight 4:18 radical Islamic terrorism wherever exist in the world 4:20 because we don't want washing up on American soil and you referenced earlier 4:23 that I sis is referred to by the present as the JV we all know that statement and 4:28 in fact 4:29 ices as we all know is al Qaeda in Iraq which 4:32 the president did not leave a transition force did not leave a quick reaction 4:35 force someone to usher in help 4:37 that new government what would you do right now 4:41 to help curtail the spread of what I sis is doing 4:44 obviously the beheadings and the the heinous acts by this group what would 4:48 you do differently 4:49 well again I think you've got to put together a global coalition it you can 4:53 add single to your enemies how far you're gonna go 4:56 so I've said I have not ruled out putting boots on the ground I'm 4:58 certainly not going to leave but that 5:00 got three wrist bands on my arm that come from gold star families 5:03 whose funeral attended a rule I work with in the past and I don't ever go to 5:08 a funeral like that or anyone else like that but for those men 5:10 and for other men and women like them I don't want to see that their lives 5:14 I have been lost in today and we need to make sure we take out radical Islamic 5:17 terrorism wherever it is 5:18 that means building a global coalition that means using a variety of things 5:22 from lethal 5:23 providing assistance lethal force the to Special Operations 5:27 the to again not ruling out to putting troops on the ground that's a last 5:30 resort 5:31 but it's one we should that be singling that we're not willing to do for willing 5:34 to take on this 5:35 I think long term generation arrest so you're not taking anything off the table 5:39 like the president has done it appears 5:42 and in addition to that you believe that that broad-based coalition 5:46 in addition to having all options on the table is the way to go 5:50 I think it really is and again you look at our allies 5:53 you look at I was just United Kingdom back the beginning of the year 5:56 certainly there looking for leadership others around the world but it's in 6:00 Germany or Poland 6:01 Australia or Japan or Canada we've got plenty of allies we work with in the 6:05 past 6:06 but I also think there's ability to bring together partners 6:09 in the Middle East certainly in the Arab world you look at what's happened to 6:13 that Jordanian pilot that was burned alive the caged 6:16 you look at what's happened with Egyptian Christians there's an interest 6:19 even in the Arab world the stand up and take on radical Islamic terrorism 6:22 I just think for most americans are people I talk to listening to voters out 6:26 there 6:26 they firmly believe it's better for us to take the fight to them the weight to 6:30 it comes to us 6:30 here on American soil so that it looks like senator Ted Cruz 6:33 Texas is getting into the presidential race tomorrow is best to challenge bird 6:37 virginia which a reaction why I think for republican voters in for americans 6:41 generally it's great to have any 6:43 actually choices what I hear when I travel this country is three simple 6:46 things say 6:47 voters tell me overwhelmingly they want a new fresh face if we're going to take 6:50 on someone from the past 6:52 in former secretaries take what we need a face for the future 6:55 secondly they tell me they want some with big bold ideas from outside 6:58 washington 6:59 and third the most important thing I think I hear over and over again 7:02 is they want some with a proven track record they want someone who doesn't 7:05 just talk about it but someone who's actually done it 7:08 and that's why I think there's incredible interest about the 7:10 possibility of us getting in the race 7:12 if there's others out there so much the better to have many great choices out 7:15 there but I think being a governor with a proven record 7:18 certainly something voters are looking at very closely and we know %uh view 7:21 record in 7:22 Wisconsin obviously unemployment loring in your battles 7:25 you i've had to fight for your job a couple a times what is your message to 7:29 the people of america what can you do for America as you have done for 7:33 Wisconsin 7:34 well features to get this race obvious I think a lot of people looked at 7:38 you know hundred thousand protesters four years ago take another challenge as 7:41 they know please say something we're not going to back down we're gonna do 7:44 exactly what we promised 7:45 people to see that we don't just fight but we fight and when for the 7:49 hardworking taxpayers 7:50 in if I chose to get in this race and if I was ultimately the honor of serving 7:54 I know that they would have an advocate every single day 7:58 that would get up and figure out how how to work to fight 8:01 to listen to first and foremost but then to fight for the hard-working 8:04 taxpayers this country and to win for them that they would have been at get so 8:08 that the hardworking taxpayers have this country will be back in charge your 8:11 Governor Scott Walker joining us live this morning for four thanks of a pond 8:15 and i'm looking for to your decision 8:16 thank you
