Gill's excited to report that 3 years on from subsidence happening on their house the underpinning and repairs have started! Jamie tells the saga his Mum has been having with a builder and sub contractors and how he's had to put a stop to the work. Gill can't sing high enough praise of the team that did their refurbishment.
We chat about the lack of due diligence people do these days (which a guest on Gill's last 'GillHB & Friends' podcast was talking about) and when would you take a personal referral or what can you do to check someone out.
Gill brings up the topic of wondering why people avoid going into a shop / cafe that has no customers in it and tell Jamie that when they owned a cafe if it wsa empty no one woudl come in but if just one person sat in the window suddenly they'd be busy.
Finally they talk about living in an older house with beams versus living in a newer house. Gill admits that she used to want to live in an old house and did live in an Edwardian one and likes 'oldie worldie' houses to stay in but having now lived in new houses wouldn't want to live in one.
