0:00 for stop an exclusive interview with texas senator Ted Cruz 0:03 center Chris out welcome back to North Carolina think it is time this morning 0:07 sir 0:07 well thank you Tim could be with you I know you're used to learn about life 0:10 states did you know a lot about North Carolina is still learning I am glad to 0:14 be here I certainly wouldn't wouldn't hold myself out as an expert but I can 0:18 say that people have been 0:19 warm and encouraging and the support we're saying is really really tremendous 0:23 we have high 10 11 or better thirteen fourteen candidates in a few weeks 0:28 who how do you separate yourself from the others you know I think republicans 0:32 are looking for someone who will stand up and do what they said 0:37 I think the entire Republican primaries to come down to one word: 0:40 and that's trust we're saying unbelievable 0:43 enthusiasm and energy behind the campaign you know heidi and I after we 0:48 launch 0:48 when a barnstorming tour we went to Iowa New Hampshire South Carolina 0:53 everywhere we went was standing room only local press reported the crowds 0:57 coming out for us 0:58 were much larger sometimes double the size and other candidates 1:01 and then on the fundraising site the support we've seen 1:05 has been breathtaking it's been record-shattering in the first week 1:09 we raised over 4.3 million dollars over 51,000 people 1:14 all over the country from all 50 states went to Ted Cruz doubt or contributed 1:19 online ninety-five percent of those contributions were hundred dollars or 1:23 less 1:24 and I think the reason we're seeing that record shattering fundraising 1:28 the reason we're seeing that grassroots energy and passion 1:31 and excitement is people are fed up with politicians to say one thing and do 1:35 another 1:36 and what I've tried to do in public office is very simple it is tell the 1:40 truth 1:40 and do what I say 1:42 so that mean the other candidates are are trustworthy compared to you then 1:45 well thats that's going to be an assessment that that every 1:49 primary voters to make every candidate than a look at the candidates and the on 1:53 and determine are they telling the truth are they blow in SLO 1:56 but Republicans are well familiar with the dynamic in a primary every primary 2:00 every candidate comes and beat his chest 2:02 and says how conservative they are they always say they're conservative 2:06 on the campaign trail and we've all seen the dynamic that they get to washington 2:11 and they often don't end up doing what they said they would 2:15 and and it's the reason people self happen frustrated 2:19 I've said a lot of times the biggest divide we've got this country 2:22 politically 2:23 not between Democrats and Republicans it is between 2:26 career politicians in Washington in both parties 2:30 and the american people and 2:33 as bad as you think washington as I promise you it's worse I've seen it 2:37 firsthand we need leadership who will stand with the american people 2:42 and will bring us back to common sense conservative principles to the free 2:46 market principles and constitutional liberties 2:48 that made America great our country is in crisis 2:52 and we've got to get back to the Constitution and the basic ideals of 2:57 liberty upon which this country 2:58 you mention about their the voters a second career politicians that we've 3:03 seen the ratings for congress you are in washington these governors in the race 3:06 could say 3:07 it's time for someone that's not in Washington how to counter that argument 3:10 well we need someone who's demonstrated they're willing to take on washington 3:14 and and indeed what I hope that when I believe primary voters are gonna say 3:18 to every Republican candidates don't tell me shown 3:23 show me that you have a proven record a standing in funding for cancer 3:28 Press so he say you oppose Obamacare quite 3:31 show me where you stood up what's up he say you oppose President Obama's 3:36 unconstitutional executive and the City fantastic show me where you stood and 3:41 farm to stop 3:43 support the bill writes the First Amendment free-speech religious liberty 3:46 show me where you were when the fight was waging in indiana show me that you 3:51 stood and fought for religious liberty that he say support the second 3:54 where were you when President Obama Harry Reid trying to take away 3:59 and violate our right to keep and bear arms he say you support 4:03 the fourth and fifth amendment some privacy show me where you lead 4:07 stopping the federal government's both collection up 4:10 phone meta data for law-abiding citizens if you say you support 4:13 the tenth amendment show me where you stood lead to stop 4:18 Common Core he say support Israel 4:21 if you say you oppose radical Islamic terrorism he say you oppose 4:26 Iran getting nuclear weapons show me where you stood in land and I think 4:31 that's going to be 4:32 a key distinction in this republican primary field is the difference between 4:35 candidates who talked conservative 4:37 on the campaign trail and candidates within walking the walk and have a 4:42 proven record
