Allen got into this unusual line of work after his wife died of a rare liver disease at the age of 34. He watched how humor helped his wife cope with her demise and applied what he learned to change his life and his career.
He now teaches workshops on how to deal with everything from traffic jams to tragedies.
He is a recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor as well as a Toastmasters Communication and Leadership Award.
