In a stuck culture, IP's and fandoms exist to be mined to exhaustion as well as stripped of original meaning. Economic gain is secondary to cultural vandalism. Unfortunately, this also applies to the founding texts of our civilization. The Odyssey is being targeted precisely because it has meant so much to the formation of the West. While we can expect contrarian takes praising Nolan's "vision," it seems likely that this is just another attempt to own the chuds by reducing even a cultural treasure of the West into something less than Marvel.
