In his illustrious career, EQ - a nickname given to him by Don Cornelius - has played with the likes of Radiance, Con Funk Shun, Michael Cooper, The Dazz Band, Shalimar, Too $hort, Scarface, and even our host, Jon. He is also a terrific songwriter, singer, and solo artist who is a silky smooth balladeer as well as an armed-and-dangerous funk soldier. Jon caught up to him in Marysville Park in Sacramento, where he sometimes plays for the neighborhood retirees and mentors young musicians.
