However, new research published in the British Medical Journal suggests that the FTO gene does not quality for an excuse for being overweight. It turns out that people who have the gene, react to proper nutrition and exercise, the same way that people who don’t have the gene do. Having the gene does not mean that you are destined to extra pounds, it just means you have to work a little harder to be healthy and trim.
