Part 1 of 2. Simon goes mad for a bit, but he gets better. The Gizzard leads Cyrus and Merrily over the Green River in search of the missing post-rider, but they soon find a more compelling guide. They make depressing contingency plans, and Merrily makes a choice. Cyrus temporarily loses his dignity.
