People often believe that sex is not for the older population, but it’s the exact opposite and just what the doctor ordered! A new study out of Coventry University and Oxford University found that sexual intercourse can improve brain function in older adults. The study consisted of 73 people above 50 years old. The participants were given tests to check fluency, visuospacial ability, memory, and attention. Those who tested higher were engaging in sexual activity at least weekly. Scientists will need to perform more research to determine whether or not these changes are due to the physical activity or an emotional component of intercourse.
