Today's podcast episode could be split into two parts. Part one is a light-hearted conversation about one man's quest to become a top-tier collegiate basketball referee, and part two is the story of a father's quest to find healing for his son after meeting dead end after dead end with traditional medicine.
Yes, Sam Forrester has a dream to become a college basketball referee at the game's highest levels, and he and I have a good time talking about why he would subject himself to such ridicule. Ha!
But more seriously, Sam, who operates ForresterFitnessandNutrition.com and the Forrester Fitness and Nutrition podcast with his wife Danielle, spoke with me about his family's journey to find healing for their son, Raleigh. In 2014, Raleigh ate a walnut and had a severe reaction. The family found out that he has extreme food allergies that started to manifest as severe eczema, and despite numerous trips to some of the best doctors and hospitals, Sam and Danielle struggled to get the answers that would bring relief to their suffering child.
Sam and Danielle made the decision to put Raleigh on the GAPS diet, one of the strictest food restriction diets around. And it was through this process of using food and nutrition to reset their son's response to food that Raleigh finally found relief, which eventually put him on the path to healing.
This is a powerful story, one that underscores the incredible importance of nutrition and how often we take the littlest things for granted.
This is the final interview episode of the Fit Dad Fitness Podcast for 2018. Thank you for all of your support this year! It does not go unnoticed or unappreciated!
