There’s this movement of intentional living happening, and one of the awesome things that has carried over from this is a push for financial freedom. It has proved to be true that when you’re hyper-focused on one area of your life, it eventually carries over into all of the other areas too. This shows up in not only your budget, but always your marriage, parenting, + self-care.
In this episode, I sit down with Deedra Broodram from Slay This Debt to chat about our financial journeys, how it’s affected our motherhood, and how we know that we’re on the paths to becoming everyday millionaires.
In this episode, Sami + Deedra talk about:
How being broke as a young family is seen as normal
How being intentional with your money spills over into the rest of your life
How our debt-free journeys have affected our motherhood
How Minimalism has played a huge role into both of our debt-free journeys
Our experiences with buying vehicles
Wearing our financial sacrifices as a badge of honor, knowing that we’re millionaires in the making
Why it’s important to know your triggers
How small things like meal planning and cutting back electricity usage can add up
Memorable Quotes:
“When you’re hyper-focused on your finances, that stuff carries over into other areas of your life. For me, that has really carried over into parenting.” -Deedra
“I love that there is this movement of intentional parenting going on with the examples that we’re setting for our kids.” -Sami
“Everything is for that appearance of ‘Hey, we’re doing good!” but underneath everything is crumbling.” -Sami
“Knowing that the everyday millionaire, most of them drive used cars, I look at my car as a badge of honor.” -Deedra
“A lot of times it’s the death by a thousand cuts…it’s the $10 here, $5 there.” -Deedra
