RADM Wendi Carpenter is the Executive Director of the Captain Phillips and Lane Kirkland Maritime Trust where she advocates for long-term strength of the U.S. maritime industry in the United States and around the world. and the American Merchant Marine by generating public awareness, assisting high achieving individuals who want to pursue careers in maritime and advocating for public policy to ensure the viability of the industry and its workforce.
She previously served as the 10th President of the State University of New York Maritime College. She was the first woman to serve as President of the college. She stepped down in 2013 after navigating through the challenges of hurricane Sandy.
Carpenter was a Naval Aviator, flight instructor, and held various commands throughout her Naval career.
